This is a registry of pilot projects that are underway or completed. A pilot is a short “proof of concept” effort (~6months) where a new approach or technology is implemented and the results are measured and shared. They may be free or low cost. This registry seeks to make it easy to find and learn from pilot projects so that the knowledge gained can be widely shared.

Reverse Auction Pilot
We tested buying certain services (emergency HVAC repair) and commodities (Bituminous materials = materials for street paving) via reverse auction to see if we got new vendors, lower prices, and same or better results. We attempted four reverse auctions of which two were successfully. Via a Misc Purchase (MP) we hired two different vendors to run our reverse auctions.

High-definition Street View Imagery Evaluation
Philadelphia has been selected for a pilot project and Cyclomedia is capturing imagery of all public streets. The imagery is compatible with all of the City’s desktop and online GIS tools. Unlike Google street view, images are not blurred and are captured in seamless 360-degree views. Each pixel represents an area of 0.15 in x 0.15 inches, allowing for accurate linear and area measurements.
